Sunday, May 19, 10:00 a.m., John Turner, Makamah Nature Preserve, Fort Salonga – John will lead us through this fascinating suburban wetland preserve to explore the plants and wildlife that call it home.
The Makamah Park Preserve is approximately 140 acres in the east watershed area of crab meadow park on the north shore of Long Island, New York. Originally called Crab Meadow Park East Watershed, the Makamah Nature Preserve was acquired by Suffolk County in 1973. It contains dry and wet woodlands, as well as marsh.
